The tide was high. The sound of children playing, splashing water at each other was highly audible from where I was. It was tempting to take a dip. But as I moved closer to shore, it was a fall from dreamland. As the water reached our fence, I saw litters afloat, count in plastic bags, rubbers, rags, dead palm leaves.
I remember my mother telling me that she always would take time to sweep near the shoreline when the tide is low. She would even end up including areas in which a neighbor would call (and shout often to people sitting or swimming near it) "private property". I wonder what makes him shut up when Mama's cleaning up. Hmm.
While I could blame man's irresponsibility for my thirst in dipping, I also can't help think about other factors such as the thinning of shorelines. It seems that the waters are getting nearer as if to devour land, man. Be it because nature has taken its toll (thinning of ozone --> melting of ice in the north pole --> not really an expert on this) or simply because it's a fact of life.
I wonder what would happen to home. Well, definitely, it would be in between the rules of public safety (FRONT) and nature's reality (BACK). Kapa-et. :hide:
